Dr. Strzempko says that viral meningitis is cured nearly all the time, but if you have any of these symptoms its important to go to the doctor.
"The consistent, the one consistent symptom is a really bad headache, often accompanied by fever", says Dr. Strzempko.
Dr. Strzempko told 22News, in the past few weeks, there have been at least five new cases of viral meningitis at Noble Hospital. Those symptoms are similar to the West Nile Virus, which he says might go undiagnosed.
"We probably miss a lot of cases, if it's in the birds in the area and mosquitoes are carrying it, and some people are getting bit, then some people have it, the thing is like I said, unless you are at the extremes in the age, you think you just have a bad flu or bad summer cold", says Dr. Strzempko.
