Viet Nam looks to novel ways to fight bird flu

The Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is looking to host an international conference on bird flu control in order to garner creative ways to fight the disease, according to the department?s head Bui Quang Anh.
The official made the remark at a meeting of the National Steering Committee for Avian Influenza Prevention and Control on August 14.
At present, the country is home to two provinces, Dien Bien in the north and Dong Thap in the south that have had an outbreak within the last 21 days.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Bui Ba Bong warned that the risk of bird flu epidemic reoccurrence still remained high from now to the end of this year, especially over the winter months.
