Vaccination campaign against influenza A H1N1 has no technical support or epidemiological

The incidence and mortality of reported cases does not justify spending campaign and there is a risk that people develop adverse reactions to this new vaccine
Will not prevent the virus mutates constantly.

The Peruvian Medical Association (PMA) has shown that the influenza vaccine AH1N1 was not considered in the planning of PHC activities by 2010. Its executives argue that, since November 2009, which initiated the planning of activities, to date, the demand profile reports and epidemiological surveillance report no changes in the incidence of H1N1 virus in the country.

"Viruses and especially RNA type have the ability to mutate, so would the vaccine prepared for the epidemic strain of 1 year, but not for that would appear in 2010," said Herberth Cuba, President Peruvian Medical Association.

The ruling held that the epidemic of AH1N1 reported during 2009 has proved to be a disease with low mortality (only 0.03% and predominantly associated with serious medical problems, uncontrolled), whose ability as any infectious disease occurs depending on different mechanisms: One is the infectious agent and a host response.

Dr. Flora Moon, for his part, said that there is the possibility of adverse reactions with this vaccine, which increases with adjuvants such as squalene (cholesterol core, and its use in vaccines is associated with problems immunological and endocrine), and Polysorbate 80 questioned adjuvants, but also questioned and preservative thimerosal (ethylmercury).
Components of these vaccines that have reported adverse reactions in the northern hemisphere, between September and November of 2009, took place in countries where the vaccination campaign as Holland, Sweden, France and Spain.

"Most pictures of viral infections among them the flu are mild cases, self-limiting, some moderates who require only symptomatic treatment. It must be emphasized that educational campaigns are the people" he said.

According to the indication of MINSA in the first phase should be vaccinated children older than 6 months, pregnant women, health workers, in a second phase of older adults with disease. In the latter group dominated hypertensive diabetics and those on the underlying disease and with impaired endothelial (epithelial damage of blood vessels).

The application of the vaccine does not protect from infection to an epidemic of H1N1 because the constantly mutating strains, however, carries the risk of adverse reactions can be serious if there is a basis of endothelial dysfunction. Reactions to squalene are not immediate but may occur later as demonstrated in the experimental vaccination campaign of the combatants in the Gulf War who presented Guillen Barre Syndrome which is why the FDA suspended the use of squalene in 2004.

On the other hand, the AMP argues that the European Council has opened a debate questioning the decision of the WHO on their actions during the epidemic of A H1N1, as the change in the definition of a pandemic, which has led to alarming public health decisions as we are experiencing. Likewise, Dr Albert Osterhaus WHO senior advisor on influenza virus, has been discovered serious conflicts of interest, their relationship with laboratories manufacturers of these vaccines. (Revista Science 19 October 2009)

The Peruvian Medical Association concluded that the vaccination campaign against influenza A H1N1 has no technical support, or epidemiological, the incidence and mortality of reported cases does not justify the risk of the population of developing adverse reactions to a vaccine that will not prevent disease.

Moreover, our country lacks a Compensation Fund (compensation) because of adverse reactions to vaccines that are enforced, and the USA. Therefore, this decision by the government in relation to this new vaccine, who and how to be responsible for damages?
