Rapid response teams to deal with swine flu

LUCKNOW: In view of the swine flu (Influenza-A H1N1) acquiring alarming proportion in various parts of the state, minister for medical and health Anant Kumar Misra has directed all chief medical officers (CMOs) in the state to ensure that the Rapid Response Teams take immediate steps in various districts for checking the onslaught of swine flu. He said that strict action would be taken against doctors and officers found lax in this regard.

The minister while reviewing the steps being taken to tackle swine flu in the state at a meeting with senior health officials here on Friday the government had already set up control cells in everdistrict of the state which were working round-the-clock. Besides, 10-bedded isolation wards had also been arranged for the swine flu patients.

Misra said that that there was no shortage of medicines in government hospitals to treat swine flu patients and in case of any shortage, the medicines would be made available by directorate of health.

Regarding Japanese Encephalitis (JE) which has taken a toll in eastern districts of the state, the minister told the health officials that the state would receive 74 lakh doses of JE vaccine sent by the government of India by the end of this month for controlling JE.
