That came hours after she defied Maine officials, left her home and went for a bike ride with her boyfriend.

On Friday, after a hearing held by telephone, LaVerdiere said Hickox only would have to continue direct monitoring of her health, coordinate travel plans with health officials and report any symptoms...

The temporary order permits her to engage in what the judge called "non-congregate public activities" like walking or jogging in the park but instructs her to maintain a 3-foot (1 meter) distance from other people.

Chief District Court Judge Charles LaVerdiere had been asked to order Ms. Hickox to comply with the demands of state health officials, including banning her from public transportation, movie theaters, and crowded shopping areas.

In rejecting the request, the judge said in a four-page order issued on Friday that Hickox does not show any symptoms of Ebola and therefore is not infectious...

Kaci Hickox 'Humbled' by Maine Judge's Ebola Ruling

A judge in Maine ruled Friday that Kaci Hickox, the nurse who treated Ebola patients and defied a state-imposed quarantine, can come and go as she pleases, as long as she is monitored for symptoms and lets health officials know where she’s going.

The same judge had issued a temporary order on Thursday night ordering Hickox to stay at least three feet away from other people and to stay away from crowds and public transportation.

But the judge, Charles C. LaVerdiere of state court, lifted those parts of the order on Friday. He found that authorities in Maine had not proved that restricting Hickox’s movement was necessary to protect the public from infection. He said that his order was pending a further hearing.

Hickox said she would comply, and she said she was grateful for support from all over the world. She announced no plans beyond staying in to watch a Halloween movie with her boyfriend on Friday night.

Sheila Pinette of the Maine CDC has released information that the roommate of Kaci Hickox, while in West Africa has displayed signs of ebola. Pinette says “The respondents roommate in Africa became infected without knowing how she became infected with Ebola. (Any potential risk to respondent from that incident has passed).” This is one of 35 points Pinette made while filing a verified petition for public health order yesterday with the state. Kaci Hickox was issued temporary court order. The document says Hickox must submit to active monitoring, coordinate her travel with public health authorities, not use commercial or public transportation, not go to any public places or workplaces unless to receive necessary health care, and she must maintain a 3-foot distance from other people and not leave Fort Kent without consulting public health authorities.

Monday marked the 21st day since Kaci Hickox's last exposure to an Ebola patient. On Tuesday, she'll be freed from daily monitoring and can get on with her life.

Hickox said she and her boyfriend are leaving northern Maine because he's no longer enrolled at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, where they were disappointed with the way he was treated.
