The U.S. State Department confirmed to KETV NewsWatch 7 it approved a new deal with Georgia-based Phoenix Air.

The new deal keeps the jets on 24/7 standby for the State Department and is worth $12.4 million for one year starting in February 2015. The previous no-bid contract between the government and Phoenix Air was worth roughly $5 million.
A state department official tells KETV NewsWatch 7 the contract comes with an additional option to extend the arrangement for two years....
