The Department of Health monitorea a possible sprout of the resistant bacterium KPC in mutualistas and it is alert before the increase of cases of flu A in cities of the south of Brazil, on the border with Uruguay. There is still stock of vaccines.
The bacterium highly resistant to the well-known antibiotics is the producing kebsiella pneumoniae of KPC. In Uruguay it was detected for the first time in April of last year in Maldonado, where it would have caused the death of at least a patient (although it did not remain completely clear if the bacterium was determinant), and then in September of the same year in the Military Hospital.
In this welfare center there is since then a 'supported' sprout of as minimum 20 cases between patients colonized and infected by the bacterium. The colonized ones have the bacterium in his digestive pipe, but it does not cause infection.
Also there were cases in the Spanish Hospital (where they were controlled) and now a new focus was discovered in the sanatorium Impasa, informed yesterday the newspaper Observer.
