As of October 19, 2010, 789 human cases of WNV had been reported nationwide in 36 states: Alabama (3), Arizona (132), Arkansas (6), California (65), Colorado (73), Connecticut (7), Florida (7), Georgia (11), Idaho (1), Illinois (44), Indiana (8), Iowa (6), Kansas (6), Kentucky (3), Louisiana (20), Maryland (14), Massachusetts (6), Michigan (27), Minnesota (5), Mississippi (6), Missouri (3), Nebraska (37), Nevada (2), New Hampshire (1), New Jersey (24), New Mexico (16), New York (124), North Dakota (8), Ohio (3), Pennsylvania (27), South Dakota (20), Tennessee (4), Texas (60), Virginia (2), Wisconsin (2), and Wyoming (6). Of the 789 cases, 479 (61%) had neuroinvasive disease. A total of 33 WNV-related fatalities have been reported in Arizona (8), California (1), Colorado (4), Florida (2), Illinois (3), Kentucky (1), Michigan (3), Nebraska (1), New Jersey (2), New York (3), Texas (4), and Virginia (1).

ArboNET is the national, electronic surveillance system established by CDC to assist states in tracking West Nile virus and other mosquito-borne viruses. Information regarding 2010 virus/disease activity is posted when such cases are reported to CDC.
Of the 931 WNV cases, 566 (61%) were reported as a neuroinvasive disease cases, and 365 (39%) as nonneuroinvasive disease cases. One hundred and ten presumptive viremic donors have been reported at this time.
