Samantha Cooper battled against a string of ailments all her life.

But her heart could no longer cope when she was suddenly struck down with a mixture of pneumonia and swine flu.

Four days after going into the University Hospital of Hartlepool with a chest infection, Samantha's organs began to fail and she died surrounded by her loving family on November 10.

A YOUNG mother died just 24 hours after being told she had swine flu ? leaving behind a five-year-old daughter.

Samantha Cooper, 24, had suffered health problems all her life, battling rheumatoid arthritis and asthma.

But she developed a cough at the beginning of last month which gradually became worse and was admitted to hospital with pneumonia.

After that the single mother deteriorated fast and struggled to breathe, which led surgeons to operate to remove fluid from her lungs. Three days later doctors at the University Hospital of Hartlepool, Teesside, told her family she was suffering from swine flu. She died the next day.

Samantha?s mum, Debbie, 48, has been left to care for her granddaughter Kacie at the family home in Hartlepool.

She said: ?We?re looking after the little one now, but it?s hard. She gets upset and you hear her say ?I miss Mummy?.

?It is going to be a hard Christmas, but she will be in our hearts.?
