MYSTERY surrounds an outbreak of a rare disease which was once a major cause of death among children.
A number of local youngsters are believed to have contracted scarlet fever in recent weeks, but health agencies don't know how many...
...An NHS Fife spokeswoman said they were unable to give any indication of the number of cases involved.
"Scarlet fever is no longer a reportable disease and therefore no definitive figures are available," she added.
"As it's not a notifiable illness any more there are no statistics from the public health side."
