A major hospital has announced it is checking if patients and staff have been exposed to mpox, after a person with the rare infection visited the A&E department.
Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, is an infection most commonly found in parts of central and east Africa, according to the NHS website.
The hospital trust said it was in touch with around 30 patients and staff as a "precautionary" measure.
Mpox spreads between people through direct contact with rashes, skin lesions or scabs caused by the virus, including during sexual contact, kissing, cuddling or other skin-to-skin contact.
