Health Reporter Diana Prince examines the battle against bugs ? and budget cuts ? highlighted in a city public health report.
A RESURGENCE of diseases including HIV and mumps in Plymouth has been highlighted in a new report.
The city's head of public health has outlined the toll of new and re-emerging threats to residents.
She also warned public sector budget cuts born out of debt crisis will "impact significantly" on local people.
Professor Debra Lapthorne stated controversial Government reforms risk damaging NHS performance and harming patient care.
Her annual report, published today, focuses on health protection, covering a wide range of topics from infectious diseases, to emergency planning and environmental hazards.
It also details city-wide work being done to tackle outbreaks of the infectious PVL bug in care homes and sports clubs...
