U.S. consumers slightly less grim, trade gap narrows

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. consumers' mood grew less grim in March, according to a survey released on Friday, while the latest figures showed the U.S. trade deficit narrowed in January to its smallest in more than six years.

The Reuters/University of Michigan Surveys of Consumers said its preliminary index reading of confidence for March edged up to 56.6 from 56.3 in February. That beat economists' expectations for a fall to 55.0.

Many are too busy just trying to survive to fall apart.

That move upward from 56.6 to 56.3 is likely us Northerners feeling our spring optimism due to finally seeing the sun (and temps above freezing) :D
