(CNN) -- There were no signs of trauma, no clues of any violence or foul play.

So investigators are trying to determine how five family members died in a Utah home over the weekend.

Officials identified the deceased relatives as father Benjamin Strack, 37; mother Kristi Strack, 36; son Benson Strack,14; daughter Emery Strack, 12; and son Zion Strack, 11.

Another son of the couple found the bodies on Saturday night, the Springville Department of Public Safety said.

Preliminary autopsy results have ruled out any sort of violent assault

Firefighters entered the home at 954 S. 900 E. in Springville in protective gear in case of carbon monoxide poisoning, but they found no traces of the deadly gas. Officers removed the family's pets, which were still alive. Springville Police Lt. Dave Caron said that the pets had been walking throughout the house and were not confined to the room where the bodies were found.

Detectives do not believe there is an outstanding suspect or any danger to the community. Investigators are awaiting results of bloodwork performed by the medical examiner, but preliminary autopsies found no visible signs of bodily trauma.

"There's no known cause of death. There's nothing obvious," Caron said. "We're in the early stages right now of the investigation."

Several other articles indicate that the home was part of a duplex, and that no one in the other dwelling was ill eihter.

Five simultaneous deaths, with no one even being ill enough ahead of the others to cause a 911 call, has to in my mind, at least, raise the possibility of a mass poisoning. But with what?

While a test of air in the house by firefighters did not find any carbon monoxide, investigators have not ruled that out as the cause of death.

The front door of the house was open and the back door was cracked open before firefighters arrived, Caron said, and the gas could have ventilated before the test.

Death by carbon monoxide poisoning is pretty obvious. Autopsy results should indicate.

Some of the bodies looked to have been positioned after they died Sept. 27. They were found by the couple's older son and Kristi Strack's mother, who said she couldn't believe "she" would do this to the kids but wouldn't elaborate, police wrote.

Investigators found empty methadone bottles, 10 empty boxes of nighttime cold medicine and two boxes of allergy medicine in their garbage, along with a red liquid substance in Pepsi cups. They also found a pitcher of red juice, a purple bucket with yellow liquid, a bag of marijuana and other medications, including sleeping pills.

Springville police Lt. Dave Caron said Wednesday he couldn't comment on the search warrant or speculate about the cause of death until results of a toxicology test come back. That's expected in late November, he said.

"Until I get those, I really don't have anything," he said. "I could come up with all sorts of theories, but it's not helpful."
