Re: TX: 6 yr. old diagnosed with flu dies in Dallas
Some details from another report. It still needs to be determined if this is due to the flu. But, regardless, even if she was ill for a bit before she was taken to the hospital, this progressed very quickly.
"A 6-year-old girl who had been diagnosed with the flu was found dead this morning at her home in Pleasant Grove.
Tahila Johnson complained Monday morning of aches and pains ?all over her body,? according to a police report.
She was taken to Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite that night and discharged about 10 p.m. with Zyrtec and a flu diagnosis, the report says.
WFAA-TV (Channel 8) reports that while the family was told Tahila had the flu, she was never specifically tested for the virus.
That night, Tahila?s grandmother checked on her around 2 a.m. and heard the girl snoring in bed at their home on Hollow Ridge Road. In the morning, she found the girl ?stiff and cold to the touch,? the report says.
"A Dallas girl has died after being released from a North Texas hospital.
According to a Dallas Police report, the girl was discovered yesterday morning at her home in Pleasant Grove. The report states that family members told officers that the girl has been diagnosed with the flu on Sunday at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite. According to her family, she was discharged from the hospital after four hours and given a prescription for Zyrtec.
When police arrived at the girl?s home Monday morning, they say that she was in the front entry way of the house and wrapped in a blanket. According to emergency responders, the girl was moved there from her bed after a family member discovered her stiff and ?cold to the touch.?"
