200 to be tested for TB at adult day care center

Clients and workers at an adult day care center face testing as the result of possible exposure to tuberculosis.

Testing of about 200 people by the El Paso Department of Public Health was set to begin Tuesday at the day care center as a precaution after one person tested positive for an active case of TB possibly going back to late last year when the patient began showing symptoms, said Armando Saldivar, spokesman for the city's Public Health Department.

The testing will be at La Victoria Adult Day Care at 1223 Lee Trevi?o Drive south of Interstate 10, according to two sources who asked not to be identified. Guadalupe Gantt, the administrator of La Victoria, could not be reached for comment...

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - El Paso Public Health officials have confirmed that 65 people tested at a local adult day care center have come back with positive results for Tuberculosis.
The investigation began earlier this month at the La Victoria Adult Day Care after a person in their care tested positive for TB. The center then began working with the City of El Paso Public Health Department to test an additional 199 people who may have had contact with the infected person.
On Wednesday, the results came back positive for 65 of those 199 tested. None of the people tested showed signs or reported symptoms of an active TB infection. Additional testing will be performed on those 65 people to determine their TB status...
