The Tulsa County Social Services pharmacy will begin dispensing medication on Thursday to uninsured individuals with early symptoms of the flu.

The medication is expected to be available at noon.

Dave Cox of the City-County Health Department said the antivirul medication, known as Tamiflu, is for both HINI and seasonal flu.

He stressed that the medication will not prevent the onset of the flu but is intended to "lesson the severity and shorten the duration" of the illness for those who have it.

Cox said the medication should be taken within 48 hours of the onset of the flu.

The Tulsa County Social Services pharmacy is at 2401Charles Page Blvd.

The medication is free.

A doctor's prescription is required.

For more information, call the pharmacy at 596-5560.
