Budgam:

Animal Husbandry Department Kashmir saturday organized a one-day training camp for Para-veterinary staff on the control and containment of Bird Flu. A total of 50 Para vets attended the camp.

The trainees were told about the symptoms of the disease, differential diagnosis, the importance of the information system, quarantine measures to be adopted in the event of an outbreak of the disease, destruction of the affected flocks, disinfection of the sheds, utensils/ equipments and the use of personal protective equipments.

According to Dr K A Zargar, Extension Officer, Publicity Wing, A H Department, the department has undertaken a programme to impart training to all the vets and Para vets working in the department and by now almost 98 percent of vets have been imparted training in the Bird Flu control and containment.

In the second phase the Para vets are being imparted training in the control operations.

The Chief AH Officer, Budgam Dr MS Peer told Greater Kashmir that the department is arranging personal protective equipments and gears for all the staff and samples of various biological fluids from poultry population in the district are being collected regularly and dispatched to RDDL, Jullandar as part of continuous monitoring.
