The BP boss at the centre of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill stands to make millions of dollars in a lucrative job with another company - as a health and safety adviser.

Tony Hayward, the former BP chief executive, was dubbed ?the most hated and clueless man in America? following the Deepwater Horizon disaster that killed 11 men and unleashed the worst accidental oil spill in U.S. history.

But less than a year after he stepped down from the lofty post with the oil giant, he has been 'senior independent director' at controversial giant commodities trader Glencore, just as it launches a flotation that is expected to raise $12billion

Among the roles the 53-year-old will carry out as a non-executive director at Glencore will be as the firm's environment and safety expert.

The commodities giant have weathered plenty of controversy itself. It was founded in 1974 by Marc Rich, who fled to Switzerland over charges he sold to Iran during the 1979-81 hostage crisis...
