Toledo boy dies from flu, family says, marking two pediatric flu deaths in Ohio

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Family members of Nathaniel Lee Downey, 19 months, tell 13abc he died Monday at Mercy St. Vincent's Medical Center from complications related to the flu. 13abc reached out to the Toledo Lucas County Health Department. Officials did not confirm the flu-related death, but are speaking with 13abc Wednesday afternoon.

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is reporting the another pediatric flu death of the 2017-18 flu season, a 4-year-old boy from Montgomery County. ODH also is reporting 1,750 new confirmed flu-associated hospitalizations in Ohio during the first week of January, a significant increase over 925 reported during the last week of December. There have been 3,854 total flu-associated hospitalizations in Ohio since flu season began last October...

A 4-year-old Clayton boy has died from the flu in Montgomery County.

The child, Jonah S. Rieben, of Clayton, was identifed by the Montgomery County Coroner?s Office Wednesday morning. His official cause and manner have not been determined by the coroner?s office.

Rieben died on Jan. 6 after being admitted to Dayton Children?s Hospital...
