Contra Costa County

Man dies from swine flu: Contra Costa County has reported its third death from swine flu, otherwise known as the H1N1 virus.

A middle-aged man with other underlying health problems died on June 23. County officials declined to disclose details.

The first swine flu victim in Contra Costa was a school-aged girl who passed away on May 29.

On June 12, a middle-aged man with no major health conditions became the county's second victim.

At least 17 people have died statewide after exposure to the novel virus.
