With the downturn in the worldwide economy, has any one noticed a rise in zootic disease being transmitted to people? I was wondering if there is any correlation to the amount of disease transmission between animals and people and their financial ability to take care of them.
A trip to the vet will most likely be put off if money for basic human necessities is in short supply. Also as more dogs, which have little or any fear of humans are abandoned by financially strapped owners start to turn feral and run in packs there could be problems. Farmers may put off vaccinations and sanitary precautions, which help prevent disease, or worse, not give full doses of now expensive medications in the hope that a little is better than nothing.
Maybe some more knowledgeable heads than mine have some answers.
