The Chicago Mortality Mystery

Digger

Well-known member
I noticed many months ago Chicago has not reported mortality data to the CDC in its MMWR-122 Select Cities. I am aware this specific issue has been discussed but I am wondering if anyone has seen any or is aware of any Novel H1N1 pandemic (or mortality/P & I) data for Chicago,IL?

I find it odd that for such a large population base and hence a substantial contributor to national mortality metrics, that there is no (recent) specific data available. I have searched the on-line state data bases. Some information exists for mortality but it is years old.

It is very concerning that the CDC would exclude this information from the MMWR or not pressure states to report the information to them (if that is the case). Of all times, this data is of immediate interest to the public. Not only is it not timely, but worse yet is now more incomplete.

Please correct me if I am wrong on anything above.

But...again the question is -- Has anyone has seen, or is anyone aware of any H1N1 pandemic (or mortality/P & I) data for Chicago,IL over the last 6-7 months?
