Thailand health officials saw more than 5,000 dengue fever cases during January 2016, reporting a total of 5129 cases from 76 provinces. The areas with the most dengue illness include Bangkok, Nakornpathom, Samutsakorn, Rayong and Srisaket. No fatalities have been reported in 2016.

Thailand saw more than 140,000 dengue fever cases in 2015...

The number of people who contracted dengue fever so far in 2016 more than doubled from the last year, Health Ministry permanent secretary Sophon Mekthon said Monday.

Dr Sophon described the dengue situation in Thailand as "dangerous and very worrying". He said 8,651 people were confirmed infected with the virus in the first two months of this year, up from 4,263 cases in the same period last year. There has been one fatality.

Thailand: Dengue cases near 10,000, additional deaths reported

The number of dengue fever cases get closer to the 10,000 mark this past week as the Thailand Bureau of Epidemiology puts the total cases as of Feb. 28 at 9639 from all 77 provinces.

In addition, health officials report two additional dengue related deaths bringing the total to three during the first two months of 2016...

Thai Health Authorities Raise Concerns as Dengue Fever Cases Rise

BANGKOK ? Thailand?s Ministry of Public Health reported that dengue fever remains a concern in Thailand as cases recorded during the past two months of this year has doubled cases in the same period last year.

According to the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, Dr Sophon Mekthon, a total of 9,639 cases of dengue fever was recorded from 1 January to 1 March this year.

He said this year?s figure doubled the figure of the same period last year when there were only 4,783 cases.

Bangkok remains the region with the highest incidence of the disease, followed by Rayong, Samutsakorn, Nakornpathom and Phuket...

Some 3,630 people came down with dengue fever in Bangkok in the first five months of this year, health officials have said.

But fortunately, they had no reports of casualties.

The total number was a jump of 19.5 per cent compared with the same period last year...

Thailand health officials are now reporting 25037 dengue fever cases, including 20 deaths, in all 77 provinces. The top five provinces affected the most include Maehongsorn, Rayong, Pangnga, Bangkok and Trad.
