​MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Health officials are warning travelers who passed through Memphis International Airport recently that they may have been exposed to measles, one of the most contagious diseases in the world.

The Shelby County Health Department said an out of state resident with a confirmed measles case traveled through the airport while contagious. Officials said people who were inside the airport during certain time periods on Dec. 30, Dec. 31 and Jan. 3 may have been exposed.​..

Health officials confirm Nashville’s first measles case of 2026

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Public Health Department issued an alert Friday about the first measles case of the year confirmed in Nashville, adding that the patient was in public during the “infectious period” over Fourth of July weekend.

Even though officials said this case “currently poses no threat to the public,” members of the Nashville community are still asked to watch for potential signs and symptoms of the measles.

According to the MPHD, its vaccine preventable disease team confirmed the patient was in public, including the following locations, amid the “infectious period” last week:

Wednesday, July 1:
Waxing the City at 1108 Gallatin Avenue in Madison between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Goodwill at 2101 Gallatin Pike North in Madison between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Friday, July 3:
Swett’s Restaurant at 2725 Clifton Avenue in Nashville between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Publix at 1111 Gallatin Avenue in Nashville between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 4:
Dino’s Bar and Grill at 4111 Gallatin Avenue in Nashville between noon and 4 p.m.
Limo Peruvian Eatery at 1008 Fatherland Street in Nashville between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Paul’s Corner at 824 Porter Road in Nashville between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m...

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The first measles case in Shelby County was confirmed by the Health Department on Tuesday morning, July 21.

Health officials state that while there is a reported case in the county, the threat to the public is currently considered low.

An investigation indicates that the case most likely came from international travel, with symptoms developing after returning to Shelby County.

​The case was reported to have been in the following public locations during the infectious period:

Hobby Lobby Store, 7986 Highway 64, Bartlett, TN 38133. ( July 9, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.)
Aldi, 9970 U.S. Hwy 64, Lakeland, TN 38002. ( July 15, between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.)...
