TB deaths have trebled in four years in Behrampura

While Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is working rigorously to curb deadly malaria, another equally fatal disease seems to have been ignored by them.

Ahmedabad has witnessed large number of cases of Tuberculosis (TB) in last five years with maximum number of patients and deaths reported from Behrampura, said Congress during AMC?s general board meeting held on Wednesday. What is more alarming is that number of deaths due to the disease has trebled in last four years.

According to figures obtained from TB hospitals of the state, Behrampura in last four years has recorded 1,525 cases in the deadly disease, and 79 of them succumbed to it.

As many as 37,694 cases of Tuberculosis have been reported in Ahmedabad in last four years and a whopping 1,103 of them have died due to it. In what comes as a shocker, about 2,453 cases of TB have already been recorded this year, of which 108 people have lost their lives to the disease in last six months...
