At least 12 people die of tuberculosis (TB) everyday, National TB and Leprosy programme manager Dr Saidi Egwaga told reporters at the Nane Nane exhibitions in Dodoma at the weekend.
He said the disease could be prevented if TB patients were diagnosed and treated on time.
He said according to statistics, an average of 176 people suffer from TB every day in the country making an average of 64,000 people per year who suffer from the disease.
?This disease is spread through air thus one infected person can infect between 10 and 15 people per year if they will not be given proper treatment,? Dr Egwaga said.
