TAMPA - One hundred students are still out sick at Tampa Catholic High School with flu-like symptoms, but no additional swine flu cases have been reported.

Principal Thomas Reidy said on Monday 10 parents called confirming their children were diagnosed with swine flu.

Teachers are wiping down desks, door knobs and lockers. School officials said they have hand sanitizer in every classroom, but there are no plans to cancel classes or any extracurricular activities.

In fact, the varsity football team has a game scheduled for tomorrow.

"We did a call this morning from Naples, we're playing a team down in Naples tomorrow night in football and I assured them that we're planning on coming," Reidy said. "And they had gotten some phone calls because I think news had spread down there."

Reidy said the Hillsborough County Health Department applauded the school for how it's handling the situation.

"They said we're here, call us if you need us, if you have any questions," He said. "But it sounds like you all are doing what you're supposed to be doing."

The school sent home letters to parents urging anyone with flu symptoms to stay home and contact a doctor immediately.

Principal Reidy said several of the students who were out sick earlier this week have returned to class, some of them even giving him a thumbs up in the hallways.

Tampa Catholic, which has about 700 students, resumed classes August 12.

No other private schools in the area have reported a high rate of absenteeism.

State health officials said they aren't recording confirmed cases of swine flu because there are too many. They are only reporting the number of swine flu-related deaths, which was 66 as of Wednesday.
