Young children are highly susceptible to H1N1 flu if any family member is infected with the virus.

Pediatrician at National Taiwan University Hospital Chang Luan-ying made the remarks on Friday at a conference. She said the average H1N1 infection rate within households was under 30 percent, but the ratio more than doubled among children.

Dr. Chang said children are not only more vulnerable to H1N1 infection than adults but also more susceptible to complications. She said children, particularly those at preschool age, should be put on the priority list for immunization.
