The Bureau of Prevention, Inspection and Quarantine of the Agriculture Committee said today (3/9) that the Animal Hygiene Laboratory notified that a new H5N2 subtype (branch b) highly pathogenic avian influenza virus was diagnosed in a red feather chicken farm in Tamsui District, New Taipei City. Animal protection and epidemic prevention in New Taipei City The department has carried out the culling and destruction of 235 chickens in the chicken farm. Since this year, 17 cases of avian influenza have been diagnosed and culled on the farm.
The Anti-Inspection Bureau stated that the chicken farm has a livestock farm registration, and the public reported to the New Taipei City government that dead chickens were found in the chicken farm. New H5N2 subtype (branch b) highly pathogenic avian influenza was diagnosed in chicken farms. The chicken farms were all 3-month-old chickens. For cleaning and disinfection work, the Prevention and Inspection Bureau stated that there have been cases in the northern chicken farm in the past, but this freshwater red-feather chicken farm is the first case in the northern part of the epidemic. There are 17 farm cases, including 14 farms of land birds, 1 farm of ducks, and 2 farms of geese.
The Bureau of Prevention and Inspection stated that the high-pathogen poultry influenza epidemic has occurred again in the upstream countries of my country's migratory bird route (South Korea and Japan) since November last year. Among them, 46 poultry farms in South Korea (November 8 to today) have been diagnosed with H5N1 subtype high pathogen H5N1 or H5N8 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (both branch b) has been confirmed in 22 poultry farms in Japan (from November 10 to today). More than 1.05 million poultry were culled.
