SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Health officials say a second Syracuse-area resident has died from swine flu.
Onondaga County Health Commissioner Dr. Cynthia Morrow says the patient was an adult with underlying medical conditions. She says no other information will be released to protect the family's privacy.
Last week, the county recorded the first H1N1 death in the state outside of New York City.
Morrow says the county's total number of confirmed cases now stands at 70. Nine have required hospitalization.
As of Tuesday, state health officials say there have been 1,007 confirmed cases in 33 New York counties and New York City, where nine people have died from the infection
