Swine flu may have claimed another in Valley

South Texas continues to lead the state in the number of deaths linked to the H1N1 virus with 19 out of the 33 reported cases.
A 26-year-old man who died at a Rio Grande Valley hospital may be the 20th case.
While the CDC works to confirm the report with tests, family members of the victim do say he suffered from pre-existing conditions.
Dr. Brian Smith, Medical Director for the State Health Department Region 11, said it?s especially important for people who are suffering from flu-like symptoms and are considered high risk people to seek immediate medical care.
"Within the first two days... You need to seek medical care with pre-existing conditions," said Dr. Smith.
Those with pre-existing medical conditions like asthma, extreme obesity, poorly controlled diabetes or those who are pregnant are highest at risk.
