One victim, a child, died in a north London hospital this month.
There has been a surge in the number of people contracting the H1N1 virus since the beginning of last month.
Nationwide, there have been 12 deaths from flu in the last six weeks, 10 of which were swine flu-related, the Health Protection Agency confirmed.
The fatality rate has come as a surprise to experts, who now fear this winter's outbreak could prove worse than predicted.
London has seen several serious cases of pregnant women with swine flu. Three are being treated at University College Hospital, and one is said to have been so ill that an emergency Caesarean birth was necessary.
In the North-West, mother-of-two Kay Burdett has died with swine flu in an outbreak of the virus which has killed five people within a 30-mile radius.
Ms Burdett, 32, from Liverpool, had been discharged from hospital after being treated for asthma. However, her condition deteriorated and she was readmitted within days.
Doctors discovered she had the virus but she died the following day, last Friday, in intensive care. Another woman from Liverpool, aged 29, and three men from Greater Manchester have also died following complications caused by the disease.
In the UK, not including Scotland, more than 100 patients are in intensive care because of the virus.
