CKNW has learned that there are a record number of patients waiting to be admitted at Surrey Memorial hospital.
Staff received an email saying there are multiple infection outbreaks, and challenges discharging patients.
Around 400 to 500 patients have been arriving daily at emergency for care.
Fraser Health Public Affairs Director Ken Donohue says the illness bringing people to the hospital is a bit more serious than what they typically see...
