Stampede aims to protect visitors from flu

A lot more people are taking precautions because of the H1N1 virus.
This year, the Calgary Stampede worked with provincial health officials to ensure visitors to the grounds are protected.
Visitors will notice more sanitizing stations throughout Stampede Park, It's part of a well organized plan officials say to help fight the H1N1 virus.
In agriculture buildings, pigs on site have been tested to ensure they are healthy and visitors aren't allowed to touch them.
Pork is on the menu at a Stampede cooking demonstration. Pork producers say while Canadians have gotten the message their product is safe to eat, some overseas markets have not.
The Alberta Pork Producer's Justin Chatlain says, "I think we are mostly affected in our international markets. China, Philippines, Russia have shut their doors. That has affected our producers."
Health officials say hand washing is the key weapon to fight H1N1. That is a good idea not just during Stampede but any time of the year.
Health officials say the name of the virus was changed from "Swine Flu" to H1N1 to dispel the misconception that the virus derived from pig products.
