The St Tammany School System sent a letter home with every student Thursday, warning parents about potential cases of the H1N1 virus in schools. The school system reports, several schools had an increased number of students absent earlier this week.

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals says, they do not believe St Tammany has cases than any other parish in Louisiana. A department spokesman said the H1N1 Virus is in every school system in the state. But they say the H1N1 Virus is actually a milder form of the flu than the regular seasonal flu, and they do not believe it is necessary for any parent to keep an otherwise healthy child at home.
