Thursday, April 30, elected officials and prefects from overseas met with the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, by videoconference in order to discuss the deconfinement hypotheses specific to each territory. For Saint-Barth?l?my, in the absence of new cases of Covid-19 since March 26 and without any more active case since April 21, the request expressed was that of a total deconfinement from May 11. Consequences, bars, restaurants, shops, will be able to restart their activity on this date, provided that the measures of distancing and gestures "barriers" are applied. Certain activities such as nightclubs could thus have stopped, distancing measures being difficult to implement. Another restriction, entries on the island will remain limited to the bare essentials.
"The precise procedures for the accelerated internal deconfinement will be specified in the coming days by the prefecture, the rectorate and the community." Bruno Magras, President of the Community
Soon, a screening campaign
Among these methods, a screening campaign soon to be carried out on the island. Thousand test cartridges arrived this Friday on the island, after receiving a week ago, a first automatic machine to process the tests (four machines have been bought by the community). A test protocol should be defined at the end of next week. Currently a PCR test drive has been set up at La Pointe by appointment and on medical prescription. The results are currently being analyzed by the Institut Pasteur in Guadeloupe. The audiences tested will be gradually extended, in particular to all people entering the island.

According to the Journal de St-Barth, which relates this affair, his hasty departure is the result of an interview granted by the doctor from Savoie, to Dauphin? Lib?r?, a daily newspaper in the region. Under the title "In Saint-Barth, deconfinement begins thanks to chloroquine", the practitioner reveals that the number of cases of Covid-19 could have been limited thanks to the drug. However, it is only prescribed in France for very serious cases, and only in hospitals. The liberal doctors of Saint-Barth?l?my addressed a formal denial to the Dauphin? Lib?r?. The anonymity of his testimony did not save the reservist. Especially since he had also been accused of misconduct on the spot ...
