Colombo, 31 December, (Asiantribune.com):

Sri Lanka's Ministry of Health has requested assistance from World Health Organization for the procurement of 500,000 doses of Swine Flu (Influenza A/H1N1) vaccines.

WHO was presently having discussions with several developed countries to supply the vaccines to Sri Lanka free of charge, local media reported today (December 30, 2010).

Up to now, health authorities have received 2.5 million Swine Flu vaccines from WHO as grants. The vaccines are said to be worth over Rs. 30bn or US $ 300mn.

Health Ministry's Epidemiology Unit says that so far nearly 400 confirmed cases have been identified while 23 deaths from Swine Flu had been reported up to December 26, 2010...
