The Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), dependent on the Ministry of Health, has recorded 679 deaths attributable to the high temperatures recorded in the first seven days of the heat wave that affects Spain and that correspond to the period from July 10 to Sunday July 17, which was the day with the most deaths, with an estimate of 169.

According to statistics from the Daily Mortality Monitoring System (MoMo) of the Carlos III Health Institute, "observed and estimated" deaths from causes attributable to excess temperature were on the rise: on the 10th there were 15 deaths, 28 on Monday. eleven; 41 on Tuesday, 60 on Wednesday, 93 on Thursday, 123 on Friday and 150 on Saturday .

Of the 679 people who would have died from the heat wave, it is estimated that 430 are over 85 years old, 159 are between 75 and 84, and another 58 would have died between 65 and 74 years .
