VITORIA. The Basque commission for the pursuit of the bird influenza gave yesterday by concluded the established quarantine and extraordinary measures around the humedal of Salbur?a (Vitoria), where the past 30 of June appeared somormujo infected with virus H5N1, the first case detected in Spain.
The decision, made after not appearing new cases of bird influenza in the zone, was given to know by the advisor Agriculture, Fishing and Feeding in the Basque Country, Gonzalo S?en de Samaniego.
From the 1 of July to 234 controls were made yesterday in the Basque Country. All have given negative result to the virus of influenza H5 and H7, and six of samples, three in Biscay and three in ?lava, threw positive result to virus of influenza A.
With respect to these positives, the Basque Department of Agriculture explained that these "generic" positives are "only an indication that cannot not even consider with the object of alert declaration suspicion of discharge positive or low patogeneidad", since in the analyses of all Europe thousands of cases like that are registered.
The commission of pursuit of the bird influenza will meet again in September to continue its work. By then some measures will have been updated. Among them, the analyses of wild birds in the considered species of risk like the an?tidas ones (ducks, gansos...), the marine birds and rapaces will be centered solely.

Also the data in forms of collection of samples will be extended to improve their control and the informative pamphlets will be reedited that will be distributed between the people who habitually are in contact with the enemy with birds: forest people who work in bird-raising operations, hunting or guards...
The rise of the decreed measures of protection ends the safety, after the past 27 of July eliminated the measures for the zone of protection (in a perimeter of three kilometers around the zone where he appeared somormujo infected).
