12 children die of malaria in remote area of Lakes State

June 17, 2012 (RUMBEK) - The member of parliament representing Awerial County at the Lakes State Legislative Assembly representing has reported that 12 children died of Malaria last week in the Bunagok district.

Taban Abel Aguek told Sudan Tribune that three to four children were dying everyday from daily of malaria in places like Bunagok, Jarweng, Pap, Alel and Abuyung. A medical centre run by Italian charity the Comitato di Collaborazione Medica in Bunagok is "almost helpless", the MP said.

"Some children are dying even when they have arrived in the hospital and many more in the village."
