South Korea - Media report: suspected MERS coronavirus reported from North Jeolla Province

Health authorities have confirmed having received a report of a suspected patient with the MERS-CoV (Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus) in North Jeolla Province, Wednesday afternoon.

The report was from 25-year-old female in Jeongeup city, North Jeolla Province.

"She had stayed four months in the Middle East, and returned to Korea last Saturday on May 23. She has been showing symptoms of a slight cold since then," health authorities were quoted as saying.

Hospital officials in North Jeolla province said, "We are ready to meet the requested medical response according to the health authorities, but nothing specific has been delivered to us yet."
