Within the past few weeks, many state's reports on influenza have indicated an increase in ILI in the age-group 5-24. This is translating into increased ILI for some universities.
States that report ILI broken into age-groups and are reporting elevated ILI are:
DE - Additionally, reporting a specific increase in college cases. Week 3 had two cases; week 4 had 26.
GA - ILI increase in age-group 5-24
HI - majority of ILI in age-group 5-24
IL - ILI increase in age-group 0-24
IN - Additionally, reporting universities ILI week 2: 2.29%; week 4: 10.49%. 2009(H1N1) doubled in age-group 19-24 from week 3 to week 4
IA - 2009(H1N1) was predominant in ages 18-24 (34%) and hospitalizations were mainly in ages under 50 since week 2.
ME - week 4 saw an outbreak at a university
MS - ILI has been the highest for ages 0-24 since the start of the flu season
MO - ILI has doubled for age-group 5-24 from week 3 to week 4.
NE - Since week 3, there has been an increase in confirmed cases in age-group 5-24
OK - ILI increase in age-group 5-24
SD - Comparatively, since Dec 25, age-group 5-24 has had the most confirmed cases (42%).
TX - ILI has been highest in age-group 5-24 since week 1.
WA - ILI increase in age-group 5-24 in week 4
MSU indicates it, "continues to see influenza among students and staff on campus."
