Slovak-Ukrainian Border Crossing Ubla to Open for Motor Vehicles Sunday Morning

Slovakia, Ubla - Motor vehicles will be again allowed to cross the Schengen zone border with Ukraine at the Slovak-Ukrainian checkpoint Ubla as of Sunday, November 29, the spokesperson of the Border Police Directorate in Sobrance (Kosice region) Agnesa Kopernicka informed on Saturday.
The spokesperson added that the ban still holds for pedestrians, however.
Earlier because of the flu epidemic in Ukraine, Slovakia had closed the border checkpoints with Ukraine. After November 8, there was one only border checkpoint open in Vysne Nemecke, for motor vehicles only.
The police decided on relaxation of the measures at the border with Ukraine following consultations with Slovakia's chief hygienist, who said that the situation concerning the flu epidemic in Ukraine has stabilised, and no persons with symptoms of the disease have been registered on the border for several days.
Kopernicka added that physicians were recalled from the border crossings, but police and customs officers continue to use protective face masks and disposable gloves.
Any person coming from Ukraine with symptoms of a respiratory disease will be denied entry to Slovakia in line with the Schengen Borders Code.
Pedestrians are still not allowed to cross the Slovak-Ukrainian border.
