Six deaths by AH1N1 in Colombia

The Secretary of Health confirmed Wednesday a death by respiratory virus H1N1 infection in a hospital in Soacha (Cundinamarca).

The 56-year-old man who was diagnosed with pneumonia today joins six deaths in the country in recent days in the departments of Norte de Santander and Huila.




In the past five days there have been other 26 people infected by this virus with a total of 101 in the capital of the country.

The past May 24 the Secretary of health of the district, Aldo Cadena, told RCN Radio that 'there is no type of alarm with this disease, is completely controlled and permanent vigilance'.

However, the director general of the National Institute of health, Fernando of the sickle Restrepo, said recently that 'the country is going through an epidemiological peak of acute respiratory infections, expected for this time of the year' and added that 'it is appropriate to recall that of the H1N1/09 Influenza virus today is a seasonal virus circulating normally in the country'.
