Singapore reports two more A/H1N1 related deaths

SINGAPORE, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Ministry of Health on Thursday reported two more flu A/H1N1 related deaths, bringing the number of the new flu related fatalities to eight.
A 51-year-old Indian lady with Down's Syndrome and high body mass index passed away Wednesday afternoon of pneumonia, caused by flu A/H1N1. She went to a local hospital's emergency department (ED) on Wednesday after a three-day history of flu-like symptoms. At the emergency department, she had breathing difficulties and low blood pressure.
A 78-year-old Chinese male with no medical history passed away Thursday morning. He went to a local hospital on Tuesday with a one-day history of fever and shortness of breath. The cause of death has been certified as acute myocardial infarction, with flu A/ H1N1 pneumonia as a contributing factor.
Singapore reported its first confirmed case of Influenza A/H1N1on May 27. The country's first A/H1N1 related death was reported on July 18.
