How swine flu has spread
Fears of a flu pandemic are growing as the number of confirmed cases around the world continues to rise.

In Mexico - where the outbreak began - there are now 26 confirmed cases. Some reports say as many as 149 people may have died from swine flu, but WHO officials put the figure much lower and said only about 20 of the deaths could be definitely attributed to swine flu.

( the interactive animated map at this site demonstrates the increasing cases in each country)

Re: WHO maps - some animated

Almost every news service is using Dr. Niman's map - good work Henry!

That link is to Henry's map - see his Recombinomics commentarys throughout FT.

It may not be a WHO map, but it sure is the most popular - for good reason.

i noted when checking stats for his map last night, that the top links to it were all from China!

At the moment to links are from a spanish speaking service, second from Canada.

For those who are unaware Niman is the most prolific poster here at FluTrackers. He hasn't posted since yesterday because he is probably busy pouring over the sequences. However, I think even Niman will have a hard time keeping his map updated as the cases increase. I hope he has an army of helpers that won't be struck by swine flu. :)

Re: SF maps - some animated

The map with expanding circles in post#9 seems to be keeping up with the rapid expansion.
