Whooping cough confirmed in Sioux Falls School District

The second case of whooping cough at Memorial Middle School in 2019 was confirmed on Tuesday.

Whooping cough, or pertussis, is spread through respiratory droplets ? meaning coughing and sneezing are the most common ways the disease is spread.

Parents of children attending Memorial Middle School were emailed Wednesday evening by DeeAnn Konrad, spokesperson for the Sioux Falls School District.

There have been multiple cases of whooping cough confirmed in the Sioux Falls area in 2019. The first case was confirmed at Horizon Elementary School in Harrisburg, followed by Dell Rapids Elementary School, Harvey Dunn Elementary, Edison Middle School, Sioux Falls Christian, Laura Wilder Elementary School and Discovery Elementary School...
