Scotland: Two treated for H1N1 flu in Lanarkshire hospital

TWO people with swine flu are being treated in a Lanarkshire hospital.
The patients, who have been diagnosed with the H1N1 strain of influenza more commonly referred to as swine flu, have been admitted to Wishaw General and are being kept under observation.
Swine flu is potentially lethal and in 2009 more than 200 people died from an outbreak in the UK.

[h=1]Vaccine warning for high-risk groups over 11 flu deaths[/h] Several patients at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee were placed in isolation with flu earlier this week, but NHS Tayside refused to say if they H1N1 type A.
Health Protection Scotland said 39 patients had been admitted to intensive care with flu since October.
So far, 18 of these have ben identified as swine flu cases.
Health Protection Scotland said: ?Of those 18 influenza A(H1N1) cases, six have died.
?However, Influenza A(H1N1) may not be recorded as the cause of death as all of these patients had underlying health conditions.
?It should be noted that the clinical burden of influenza on NHS Scotland has, so far, been lower this season than in many previous years.?
