Case of West Nile virus reported in York County, health officials say

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A case of the West Nile virus has been confirmed in a Rock Hill resident on Friday, according to the South Carolina Department of Public Health.
Due to this confirmation, health officials want to increase education about the virus, as well as control measures.
Residents are encouraged to eliminate areas of standing water, use insect repellant, keep skin covered, and keep windows and doors closed in order to prevent mosquito exposure...
2 West Nile cases confirmed in Charleston County, 8 statewide

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC/AP) - A Charleston County hospital has confirmed it has treated two people for the West Nile Virus.
Roper St. Francis spokesperson Robert Briggs said the hospital had two confirmed cases.
“They were discharged and are receiving rehabilitation at our facilities,” Briggs said.
The South Carolina Department of Public Health said it has recorded eight confirmed cases statewide as of Thursday but did not immediately have a breakdown by county available.
